What could be more fun than looking at and trying on really gorgeous jewelry? Doing it in the intimacy of the designer’s own showroom—and having the designer on hand to take you through her latest collection. That’s how we spent yesterday afternoon at the New York showroom of three hot jewelry designers: Dana Bronfman, shown above, Lauren Chisholm and Meaghan Hennelly of Goldhenn JewelryThe only problem with this perfect scenario is that we wanted EVERYTHING we touched, ogled and tried on! And since we loved the pieces so much—in addition to the very talented women who created them—we couldn’t wait to share them all with you.—Sue Perry

Dana Bronfman: Ethically sourced & Industrial chic

Dana-Bronfman-600x600We can certainly see why Dana was recently honored with the Fashion Group International’s Rising Star Award. In jewelry speak that’s sort of like winning an Oscar or an Emmy. And it’s recognition well deserved for the designer and trained metal smith’s quietly bold pieces which take their inspiration from bridges, buildings and their architectural parts. Though she made her mark with unique pieces in mostly matte gold and diamonds, her new collection is rich in colored gemstones, like the lapis lazuli Blue Star pendant shown above. The flecks of gold you see is rutlilated quartz, she explains. We also love the way she has incorporated her signature coin-sized oculus in matte gold accented with diamonds. And like all of her jewelry, Dana works with recycled gold, post-consumer diamonds and ethically sourced stones. Awesome!

Lauren Chisholm: Wearable Sculpture

It’s not difficult to imagine that this designer of fine jewelry started her career as a fine artist. Not that she’s traded in her canvases and paint brushes for gemstones and metals, Lauren simply thinks of these things as additions to her artist’s palette. Each one-of-a-kind piece starts with a sketch and is then finished by hand. “I’m also a bench jeweler,” she told us.  Though big, bold, sculptural pearl designs, like the necklace shown above, have become her signature look (“I’m a pearly girl,” she says), we also love the beauty of her gemstone jewelry, with its pleasing palette of go-with-everything colors. See the sampling below, and you can see why we want them all!

Meaghan Hennelly: A passion for gemstones

Meaghan is the designer behind Goldhenn Jewelry, a company she formed in 2012 after designing and metalsmithing for private label collections. We’re glad she stepped into the spotlight because her pieces are not only special and unique, but all the materials that go into making them are ethically sourced. We were especially taken with her clever rings. Mounted in sterling silver with 18-K gold accents each one looks like an exquisite, little cradle holding a precious gemstone. And as far as we’re concerned, the more the merrier can dress up our digits. More from Meaghan’s Reliquary Collection is shown below in earrings with bezel set diamonds nestled in its dish-like setting. We love that they are so everyday-wearable!
