We were so taken with Shinola’s (pronounced Shine-oh-la) New York City flagship store in Tribeca on our first visit last fall that we wanted to share the retail experience with you. So we arranged for an exclusive photo shoot early one morning before the store officially opened.

With brick walls, a cement floor and sleek oak shelving, the store has an industrial chic vibe that showcases the merchandise well. And there’s a lot of merchandise to take in. Certainly, the company’s handsome men’s and women’s timepieces dominate the showroom, but you’ll also see Shinola’s other products including pristine displays of small leather goods while some retro-styled bikes are dramatically hung like art.

We were familiar with the Detroit-based watch brand’s cool, classic designs from the company website, but there is nothing like seeing the entire collection in person. Even better, the merchandise is displayed out in the open on white oak tables so customers can actually pick up any watch that catches their eye and try it on.

Another nice customer-service touch: Off the showroom is a cozy coffee bar—a great place to sit and mull over important decisions, like which watch to buy. Check out up-close details in the slideshow above.
