charm rings

If you’re charmed by charm bracelets, you’ll love the crop of the coolest new charm rings we’ve been seeing with petite gemstones, chains, fringe and other baubles dangling from their bands. The rings, shown above, are by Dior, spotted in a recent edition of T MagazineWe also noticed that a number of top designers showing at this summer’s big jewelry events featured rings with elements of movement to them—be they quirky little charms or other doodads that could be spun or flipped around while wearing the piece. Like charm bracelets, these sweet tokens can make a bold accessory statement, drawing the eye to the hands and giving a little jingle-jangle while the wearer is in motion. These pieces also demonstrate how some designers with a bold, daring spirit are pushing the boundaries of fine jewelry, giving customers something that’s a little fun and edgy. But, hey, this is not a totally new idea. Just check out the vintage versions shown below by Cartier and David Yurman!—Sue Perry

The trend has even popped up on engagement rings. This pear-shaped dazzler by Verdi is literally dripping with diamonds.

The charms on Dana Bronfman’s rings are fun to flip around. We know because we had such a great time trying them on at the summer JA Show. Her pieces are also made of reclaimed metals and ethically-sourced stones.

Heart’s are always in fashion—especially when studded in sparkly diamonds. We can’t help but wonder if Eden Presley’s large diamond heart was inspired by the tiny Cartier version, shown below.
